Careers Curriculum

Our careers curriculum is aligned with the Gatsby benchmarks and the CDI framework. Each activity planned within our curriculum whether it be classroom based, external speakers, visits, encounters or experiences of the workplace aim to improve pupils’ life experiences and support their understanding of what is needed to fulfil their ambitions, hopes and dreams.

We evaluate the impact of our careers programme regularly considering destination data and feedback from pupils, parents/ carers, teachers and employers. Input from each of these groups is valued to us as we seek to deliver a programme that is understood and beneficial too all of whom are involved. Each academic year parents/ carers and teachers will complete a survey, pupils will complete the Future Skills Questionnaire and employers will evaluate their encounters with us. All data collected from each of these methods is analysed and key points are constructed. This is used to support the planning and implementation of our programme as we measure and assess its impact.

We analyse our destinations data using a SWOT analysis. This analysis is carried out by the careers lead and SENCO as we aim to measure and assess the impact of our programme whilst considering how we can improve.

The table below outlines key activities we will be delivering across this school year. 

Alongside these activities KS4 pupils complete the bronze and silver DofE award Each of these include pupils completing volunteering. Pupils in KS4 also access a 6 week work experience placement with Bren Bikes who run the Bren Project.
