School Council

What is a School Council?

Our School Council consists of elected pupils from each year group throughout the school. The School Council is responsible for representing pupil’s views in our school and works to promote important issues such as Anti-Bullying and general behaviour around our school.

Pupils in our school are able to give their views and suggestions to the council by using the suggestion boxes provided in each form room. Any issues are then raised at the fortnightly held meetings, with the council members then providing feedback to their peers.

Council members conduct regular peer observations around our school to monitor behaviour and attitudes towards their education. At the end of each term, results are calculated and pupils with the best record are rewarded with certificates and trips out to places like Alton Towers!

Recently, the School Council have organised a fundraising event to raise money for the British Heart Foundation (BHF). The School Council Committee were involved with designing an Ultimate Dodgeball Competition in which the whole school was involved in for a token of a small contribution towards the BHF funds. The event was a massive success and all pupils and staff thoroughly enjoyed the day and together the school raised £66.36

How to become a part of our School Council?

Pupils must be elected by their year group to represent their year in their School Council.

As a member of the school council, the student representative:

  • expresses the viewpoint of the students they represent;
  • communicates the activities of the council to the head of the council
  • works collectively towards the common goal of improving teaching, learning and student achievement;
  • participates in the school development process with other students
  • Participates in and is prepared for council meetings and discussions.

If you are someone who wants to express an opinion or would like to make an improvement to our school? Then drop your suggestions in our School Council comment box.

To find out when our next School Council meeting is being held, check on our School Council Notice Board which can be found opposite the ICT room down in school.
