Maths
INTENT |
---|
The Maths curriculum at Archers Brook is highly inclusive and is skilfully designed to meet the needs and interests of all pupils. The maths curriculum is planned and sequenced in order for pupils to develop and extend skills and knowledge. The curriculum is clearly planned in long and medium term and builds towards a clear end point. Teaching of the mathematics curriculum develops pupils understanding of important concepts as well as their proficiency in techniques and recall of knowledge, equipping pupils to work independently. This helps pupils see how maths is relevant in all subjects and in everyday life. |
IMPLEMENTATION |
Pupils are taught Maths as a core subject from Key Stage 2 to Year 11. Lessons are carefully planned to develop pupils’ skills and knowledge. KS2, Y7 & Y8 scheme of work is based on the White Rose scheme – developing and extending basic skills each year. Y9, Y10 &Y11 follow the AQA GCSE specification – extending and applying skills and developing independence and problem - solving skills. KS2 to Y10 also have the opportunity during the year, to take part in activities which will help develop their financial awareness in the everyday situations and begin to equip them with knowledge to help them make informed choices and decisions Post 16. All pupils take an active participation in their learning with the subject leader communicating high expectations, enthusiasm and passion when delivering curriculum content. This inspires pupils to produce the best work they can and make progress over time. |
